Derick, currently in his second season in Skagway, once again traded in his Kentucky Bluegrass and the Red River Gorge for Alaska's white-capped mountains and Moe's Blue Ribbons. Although only in his first season donning the wildfire-orange guide jacket of Packer Expeditions, Derick already holds both the record for lightest all-day pack and heaviest heli-hiking pack. Bullion!!! When not guiding, this avid birdwatcher enjoys trundling, children's jokes, speaking in acronyms, and perpetuating the three lies of Skagway. And although bearing a striking resemblance to a young Donny Osmond, Derick's vocal skills are mediocre at best.
